Mom had A tiring, but very sucessful day in therapy today, she was able to swallow without coughing, water, thickened apple juice, tomato juice, and apple sauce. I am praying she will be able to get rid of her feeding tube soon!

Today she walked further than she has yet, about 140 yards! Today her occupational therapist hooked her up to this electro stimuli doohicky, hope that wasn't to painful. I tried one of those when craig bought it for isolated muscle workout, felt like being roped to an electric fence! All of her therapists were extremely pleased with her efforts and her ability.

  1. I still think she'll be waking you up one morning asking you for bacon and eggs!

  3. Bill, Cynthia, Roy, Melissa, Miranda, Craig, Adam, William, Krista, and Teddy, and grandchildren,

Not one day has passed since the 15th of December that I haven't lifted each of you up to the Lord. Each day I weep and pray for faith to overwhelm your hearts and then I praise God when I read your blog and find God is doing just that!

How very loving, wise, and sovereign is the Lord, desiring, knowing, and doing what is best for us every moment! How worthy is He of our complete trust and surrender!

Cynthia, less than a week before your stroke, I attended two performances of Handel's Messiah. Because of your family's past involvement with the Messiah, and our shared love for the Scripture, my heart was very tender towards you and your family. I interceded in prayer for each of you for the next several days. Upon hearing of your hospitalization, I can't tell you how much I wanted to be with you and your family. I have given this over to the Lord, and am truly blessed to see all the love and support of your family and friends! (Adam, Krista, thank you for your faithful updates on how your mom and family are doing.)

Cynthia, on Christmas Eve, you and I would have been reading page 460 "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms." Christmas Day our hymn was "O it is Wonderful!" It is very fitting for a Christmas Hynm:
"I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me, confused at the grace that so fully He proffers me; I tremble to know that for me He was crucified-That for me, a sinner, He suffered and bled, and died.
I marvel that He would descend from His throne divine to rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine; That He should extend His great love unto such as I, sufficient to own, to redeem, and to justify.
I think of His hands pierced and bleeding to pay the debt! Such mercy, such love and devotion can I forget? No, No! I will praise and adore at the mercy-seat, until at the glorified throne I kneel at His feet!"

Cynthia, and family, know that my love and prayers go with you each day.

    Always,
    In Christ,
    Your sister, Ruthie

"O magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together!"
